Alienware Area 51 Threadripper is a gaming PC created in collaboration with Dell and Alienware. So what are the general features of Alienware Area 51 Threadripper? Here is the Alienware Area 51 Threadripper Review.
General features
One example is the flagship Ryzen Threadripper 1950X, the heart of the Alienware PC Area 51 Threadripper Edition. This is the CPU performance at full efficiency: This corresponds to a 180 W CPU with 16 physical cores and 32 threads and an Intel Hyperthreaded Core i9-7960X with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and an increased clock rate of 4 GHz.
The Area 51 Threadripper Edition ensures this with 64 GB of fast DDR4 RAM and a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards so that you get your money’s worth (and a lot, see below). There is a 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD combined with a 2 TB hard drive for storage. This fast SSD offers a good balance between performance and capacity and offers a quick start and faster software loading times. The large hard drive offers twice as much space for larger files.
It’s ridiculous, but direct competition is insufficient. The Area 51 is the only ready-made gaming PC today that is equipped with AMD’s high-core processors. Yes, you can get one of these high-end processors from almost any computer manufacturer, but no other manufacturer offers a similar package except HP, Acer, or Asus.
Design
It might look similar to the 2014 original, but that doesn’t mean Area 51‘s look and feel has faded. Similar to the cross-section of a massive, futuristic Toblerone, the Blade Runner-like chassis is still an eye-catcher and cuts a fine figure on any table. However, it would help if you had a large table with sturdy legs, as the Threadripper weighs a good 28 kg and has an enormous size of 570 x 639 x 273 mm (WTH).
Inside, all components are at a 50-degree angle to encourage air circulation by allowing cold air to flow from front to back. This unusual design doesn’t bother me either. Remove one of the side panels, and you will have access to all internal components.
Outside, you get a good range of ports, including nine USB 3.1 ports (seven on the back and two on the front), two USB 2.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. There is also an SD card reader and DVD optical drive on the front.
The display outputs have an HDMI connection with dual-link DVI and DisplayPort. Another plus is the additional space for three 3.5-inch storage drives and one 2.5-inch drive, as well as an additional PCIe 4x and PCIe 16x slot.
