Glorious PC Gaming Race Model D in detail

When it comes to the scope of delivery, there is an appeal to many other manufacturers: This is how accessories should look! The information leaflet and the quick start guide are made of high quality, and there are two additional skates made of PTFE. Two stickers complete the package. In this way, the buyer simply has the feeling of being valued more than with a simple note or advertising leaflet.

At first glance, you get the familiar picture, because the basic design of the Model O has not changed much in the D-Model either. Matt black, side RGB strips, and the applied logo. Of course, Model D is again perforated with a honeycomb pattern to reduce weight, which reduces the weight to 68g. It is 1 g above the Model O, which is probably of no further interest to anyone except number freaks.
Glorious Model D
The fact that the weight has not changed significantly is noteworthy in the sense that the mouse has increased in height by almost 5 mm. With the high hump and the new ergonomic shape, Model D is only aimed at right hands, which are also not too small – we think it should be 18 cm. Apart from that, the mouse does a lot of things right in terms of touch. The matt surface is relatively insensitive to sweat and dirt and offers good adhesion even with wet hands. There is also a glossy version that provides even more grip with dry hands but becomes correspondingly less secure with wet hands.
In terms of workmanship, you can only take off your hat again. Despite the holes, the chassis is stable, the gaps are excellent and the click on all keys is crisp, without wobbling or springs. It is possible to make the back of the mouse groan with a lot of force, but that is far from everyday stress.
Despite holes to reduce weight, on the other hand, RGB lighting is not foregoing. On the contrary: The light from the two RGB strips on the side also shines inwards and shines through the honeycomb and the mouse wheel is also illuminated. Unfortunately, there is only one connected RGB zone.
The DPI indicator on the underside of the mouse is relatively pointless, or at least cumbersome. The button on the top can be used to switch to the four levels 400 (yellow), 800 (blue), 1600 (red), 3200 (green).
For the sensor, GPGR continues to rely on the first-class PMW-3360, which is no longer high-end in terms of numbers, but is one of the best sensors on the market and works absolutely reliably. At its peak, 12000 DPI is possible, which hardly anyone will really use. The LoD is specified as 0.7 mm, we can confirm below 1.3 mm on a black pad. We can’t check any less, whereby we would then already be with the practical impressions.
Glorious PC Gaming Race Model D practical check
What makes The Glorious Model D is a mouse that has attracted attention lately. So what makes the glorious model special? Let’s take a look at the glorious model d together. so ingenious in practice are its outstanding gliding properties. It is not just the low weight, but the low resistance due to the cable. The paracord-coated cord is so flexible that it almost feels like a wireless mouse. The small, fast PTFE pads do the rest and can also be applied over a larger area if necessary. Very few rodents glide so quickly and without resistance.
The key feedback is also unproblematic. A crisp, direct click, a well-rubberized and structured mouse wheel. As is often the case, the side buttons are a bit behind, but they are also very good.
Ergonomic performance is highly subjective. While the surface is extremely pleasant, not everyone might like the height of the mouse in particular. If you have an appropriately sized hand, the Model D fits perfectly. Gamers with small hands would certainly be happy about a D-model. You can no longer feel the holes after a few hours, only the dust trickling in should be blown out now and then.
The software comes to just 2 MB and can optionally be used for extended configuration. It is accordingly slim and not quite as powerful as iCUE or Swarm, for example, but also simpler and more intuitive
Profiles, DPI levels, and key assignments can be created. A macro editor is also on board.
In addition to the LoD, the polling rate and the debounce time can be set. The former is specified in the software with a minimum of 2 mm and a maximum of 3 mm, which is confusing because of the specified 0.7. As mentioned, we were able to confirm well below 2 mm. With the latter, the release delay of the buttons can be shortened, but with the increased tendency to unwanted double clicks. In our test, we were able to reduce the trigger time to 5 ms without noticing double clicks. On the other hand, we did not find any difference to the standard value, so we would advise amateur gamers in case of doubt to simply leave the settings at the standard value.
The lighting can also be adjusted quite extensively. Single colors, waves, breathing, rainbows, etc. are offered. Unfortunately, the mouse only has one RGB zone, so that in the end you are somewhat limited and the full potential due to the open structure is unfortunately not used. Many other mice offer two, three, or even four zones.
The internal memory of the mouse has space for a profile. The software is therefore not a must and can be uninstalled again if necessary.
Glorious PC Gaming Race Model D conclusion
As you’d expect, the Model D from Glorious PC Gaming Race * is a fantastic mouse. That was to be expected after the Model O’s performance. Model D does everything that Model O does so well, just as well. Outstanding sliding properties, good workmanship, and strong sensors make the Model D an absolute gaming recommendation, especially in the shooter area.
The new shape is of course highly subjective. If you have the right hand, the Model D nestles even better in it. You have done everything right haptically, but you don’t dare to experiment.
We have little criticism to express with the Model D. With extensive lighting, more than 1 zone is to be expected and the DPI indicator is a bit inconvenient.
